AHS Group operates in both the residential and commercial divisions of the construction industry. Intermediate Quantity Surveyor:

Are you someone that has strong working relationships, practices good time management and knows the importance of communicating information openly, honestly and with integrity?

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team, based in Tauranga. As a key role tasks will include, but not limited to:

  • Tendering new projects.
  • Managing feasibility costing.
  • Participating in the procurement process.
  • Preparing robust subcontract agreements.
  • Preparing monthly progress claims.
  • Preparing project cashflow forecasts.
  • Keeping up-to-date on all variations and producing financial reports for PCG meetings as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience within the New Zealand construction industry – ideally five (5) years or greater.
  • Have a sound working knowledge of construction programming and logistics.
  • Proven delivery of project outcomes within the contractual documentation requirements.
  • A qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or another relevant field would be valuable.
  • Proven experience in negotiation and conflict management.
  • An excellent working knowledge of NZS3910, NZS3916 and the Construction Contracts Act 2002.
  • Proven ability to write commercial and contractual letter and reports.
  • A high-quality working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
  • Experience with Procore would be a massive bonus.

Health & Safety and Fleet Manager:

We are looking for a Health & Safety and Fleet Manager, this is a hands on role for someone who is experienced in building and maintaining a culture of ‘safety first’. Along with Health & Safety you will be responsible for managing our fleet of vehicles. You will find this role rewarding seeing your hard work come to fruition.  

The role:

  • You will be responsible for continuously implementing, monitoring, and adapting policies and procedures to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment.
  • You will have the ability to lead, grow and support our team by ensuring all policies and procedures are understood, implemented and followed.
  • Conducting risk assessments, safety inspections and observations.
  • Oversee and monitor the transport and fleet operations for compliance, to ensure the fleet is safe to drive, regularly serviced, repaired and fit for business purposes.
  • Provide reports on budgeting, schedules and maintenance for training, equipment, vehicles, consumables.
  • Reporting and contributing to the Executive Committee.
  • Hamilton based role with projects located in Waikato, Bay of Plenty and South Auckland, you will spend time on all sites. 

The right candidate:

  • 5+ years of experience in the construction industry
  • Understanding of the construction industry as well as up-to-date knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, including legislation, national and international standards and codes of practice

Architectural Team Leader:

We are looking for an Architectural Team Leader, someone who is experienced in architectural management with leadership capabilities. With the ability to lead our in-house design team, collaborate with our wider construction team, liaise with clients and professional consultants, you will have variety like no other. With some large scale and exciting projects and developments in the pipeline, you will find this role rewarding seeing designs come to life. 

The role:

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with clients and professional consultants.
  • Ability to collaborate with contractors on ECI projects.
  • Manage the design processes and standard procedures
  • Work with the construction and project team to develop robust design briefs, design programmes and design fee agreements.
  • Track and manage design projects. 
  • Have ability to lead, grow and support our in-house design team.
  • Hamilton based role with projects located in Waikato, Bay of Plenty and South Auckland. 

The right candidate:

  • 5+ years of experience in architecture
  • Experience with Revit
  • Experience across multiple design phases and processes including design and build contracts. 
  • Thorough understanding of construction detailing as well as familiarity with current codes, standards, and product specifications.
  • We are looking for a confident team player who can demonstrate lots of initiative, brings a positive, flexible, and adaptable attitude
  • If you have architectural registration and/or a design Licensed Building Practitioner this will be a bonus.

Senior Estimator:

Are you someone that has strong working relationships, practices good time management and knows the importance of communicating information openly, honestly and with integrity?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join our growing team. As a key role, tasks will include, but not limited to:

  • Preparing cost estimates.
  • Technical proposals.
  • Reviewing tender documents.
  • Providing accurate estimates of jobs including variations.
  • Produce competitive and accurate Tenders.
  • Arrange and attend Tender debriefs with Clients and monitor results.
  • Actively pursue alternatives and innovations.
  • Develop relationships with clients, professionals, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Supervise, train and mentor cadets and junior estimators.
  • Liaise with clients and suppliers to obtain information and calculate costs.
  • Manage all stages of the estimating process from take-off, pricing, review, and closeout.
  • Formulate, analyse, and maintain precise quantities and take-offs from plans.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary Education in Engineering or Construction.
  • 10 years or greater estimating experience.
  • Experience working with commercial and industrial building projects
  • A strong understanding of all current building codes and legislation.
  • Strong work ethic, workmanship & quality focus with attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of head conditions of contract and identify key considerations of such.
  • Excellent communication and management skills.
  • Experience with estimating software such as CostX preferred.
  • Experience with Procore would be a massive bonus.

Site Manager:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Site Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the client, project team and subcontractors. Having a sound understanding of the project budget, project programme and head contract to effectively manage and co-ordinate the operational and resource requirements of a project. Co-ordinate and maintain project documentation in a manner that meets all statutory, company, and operational requirements. All while maintaining the top quality both AHS and our clients expect.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant experience within the construction industry, ideally a minimum of 10 years
  • A sound working knowledge of construction programming and logistics.
  • Proven delivery of project outcomes within the contractual documentation requirements.
  • A qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or another relevant field would be valuable.
  • Proven experience in negotiation and conflict management.
  • An excellent working knowledge of NZIA SCC1, NZS3910 and the Construction Contracts Act 2000.
