About Us – How AHS came to be…
In 2015, consulting and project management firm Medical Pacific and the team from Paul Williams Consultants were fed up with their day-to-day dealings with stock-standard construction and interiors companies. Of course there was demand to fast-track highly detailed medical and laboratory fitouts. So, after 35 years of persevering, Paul decided “it’s time to hire a couple of chippies and do this properly ourselves”… As a result, two new Volkswagen vans were purchased, a few of the best carpenters around were recruited and AHS was born.
AHS soon had a full workload, not only looking after key clients for Medical Pacific, but also taking on other client fitout needs in the private medical space. An existing relationship with Anglesea Medical Properties ensured the workload kept flowing, not only in the fitout space, but also stepping into the commercial construction arena. As a result, it wasn’t long before AHS needed to add to the team… a QS, another handful of builders and a project manager. AHS had developed into a full-grown construction company. With several specialist imaging fitout projects under their belt, it was very quickly recognised that with detailed planning and management, along with an ethos of quality, transparency, and integrity, AHS had the potential to thrive.
Today, AHS boasts a team of roughly 60 full time staff spread across the Waikato and BOP, including a design team with experience across all sectors, paired with a construction team that includes of some of the highest calibre industry members. The collaboration between the design and construction teams makes for a simple process and better overall result for clients.
AHS remains focused specialising in the private medical sector, however, they’re always open to taking on projects that are interesting and provide a challenge. Case and point, the $65 million re-development of Taumaranui meat works, which AHS transformed into a state-of-the-art pet food plant that produces up to 10 tonne of kibble per hour – read all about it in the projects section. To maintain workload and skillset diversity, AHS commits time and resource to the residential market, offering high-end design and build options, and going as far as developing their own structural steel modular home system that can be sited in the most difficult of applications.
Per their humble beginnings, people remain at the forefront of AHS and are key to the success of their projects and overall company. AHS is a proactive and agile company that supports their people, clients and communities for years to come!
